Alkalize Your Way to Better Health. Tattoos; Not Just for Drunken Sailors.

Today we're shifting our focus from wealth to health. First of all, I am not an expert. If you have a health condition, you should go see your doctor. What I'm going to discuss in this post is something I was first exposed to at a Tony Robbins seminar.

First let me set the stage.

It was day for of the Tony Robbins "Unleash the Power Within" seminar in Pasadena, CA. I had been to the seminar before, so I knew what to expect. Or so I thought...

The way the previous seminar had been run, Tony was out of the building--gone--bye-bye. The topic was on Living Health, a subject that Tony Robbins is very passionate about. The story we had been told is that the last time he spoke about it live, he went for 18 hours! Now those of you who have been to one of his seminars knows that this is entirely possible. In fact, the previous days certainly seemed close to that.

Anyway, the seminar started exactly the same way as before. Shortly after it started, I was about to leave. Then they appeared to have video problems. One of Tony's associates came back on stage and apologized. It looked like they had a legitimate disaster on their hands. Then he asked if there was anyone in the audience who was familiar enough with the material to complete the seminar. Suddenly a familiar voice came over the speakers--it was Tony, live and in person.

The whole thing was a set up. And they had kept it secret during the entire previous 3 days. In fact, the audience that day was a fraction of the audience the days before.

Tony explained that it had been many years since he had taught the seminar live and that there were some new exciting distinctions he was going to share with us that day. There were some things in the previous seminar he now thought were not quite right based on his new knowledge.

Of course, like everyone else in the audience, as soon as he walked on the stage I was riveted. No way I was going to leave now.

What Tony shared for the rest of the day definitely caused a major shift in my thinking about health. Without getting into too many details, he talked about his studies with Robert O. Young and one of the primary (if not they primary) cause of bad health: acidosis. This is the condition of the body being too acid. I have never heard this discussed before.

Tony has a set of recordings of his seminar available called Living Health. I purchased those (actually repurchased those) sometime after the seminar. I may be wrong, but I think the CDs of the second set I purchased were recorded at the seminar I attended. You can learn more about this if you get the Living Health program or purchase Robert O. Young's book, "The pH Miracle."

Just to be clear, I don't get any kind of money for endorsing Tony's seminar. I just mention it because it has formed the basis of many of the Power Affirmations I created for the recordings on health.

How do you know if your body is too acid? The safest assumption is just to assume that it is. If you get some yellow litmus paper (just search the internet), you can take a small strip and put it under your tongue. If it's a light shade of yellow, guess what, you're acidic.

If it turns blue, most likely you are alkaline.

First of all you need to understand the pH (potential for hydrogen) scale. It is a logarithmic scale from 1-14 that measures the acidity or alkalinity of a chemical (hint: your body is a chemical factory). A pH of 7 is neutral (the normal pH of pure water).

The fact that it is a logarithmic scale is important. For example, a pH of 6 is ten times more acidic than a pH of 7. But a pH of 5 is a 100 times more acidic.

The human blood has a natural pH of about 7.4. The human body cannot survive if the pH of their human blood drops to 7 or rises to 7.8! So the body has natural buffers it uses to keep the blood within these narrow limits. Hint: your bones (including your teeth) are mostly calcium--an alkaline substance. So if your body gets too acidic, it leaches the calcium from your bones creating tooth decay and bone loss. Increased storage of fat and water retention is also a way your body protects itself. To get to your ideal weight--alkalize.

Now the real trick is how do you change your body from acid to slightly alkaline and keep it there. It is a fact of chemistry that it takes a lot of alkalinity to neutralize even a little bit of acid. For example, to change a gallon of water with a pH of 5 to 7 would take 20 gallons of water with a pH of 7.5!

Here's some simple math: your body is 80% water. Water weighs 8.34 pounds per gallon. To find out about how many gallons of water are in your body at any one time, multiply your body weight by 80% and divide by 8.34. Let's say you weigh about 170 lbs. 170 x 80%=136 lbs. 136/8.34 is about 16 gallons of water.

Obviously, the human body is much more complicated than this. But what this indicates is just how diligent we need to be to alkalize our body.

I believe that the trick is to drink alkaline drinks and eliminate acidic drinks. From what I've studied, the closer your drinks are to a pH of about 9 the better.

One of the most shocking things I learned at Tony's seminar is that fresh orange juice and carrot juice are actually acidic, and so can cause the body to become too acid if taken to excess. Same with eating too much fruit. That was a significant shift from his earlier program. Note: I still like fruit and think it can be beneficial, but only in moderation.

The foods that really shine are the live, leafy greens--what a surprise! He showed some photos that showed the amount of energy in the food (I forget the name of the process) and it was amazing the amount of energy radiating from fresh wheat grass--like a lightening storm!

I think that eating the leafy greens and drinking their fresh juices is one way to increase your alkalinity, but I've come across some other products that work well for me (no, I'm not promoting some MLM--most of these can be purchased over the internet or at your local health food store). In order to test the alkalinity of some products, I'm relying on the litmus paper I mentioned earlier.

So here are some of my findings based on my simple testing:

--Soda--very acidic! Put the litmus paper in it and it turns bright yellow. I have read that soda has a pH of 3! Do the math and that is about 10,000 times more acidic than plain water! Not figuratively, but literally (10 to the 4th power)!

--The enzyme products by Infinity2 (http://www.infinity2.com). These all tested alkaline. The paper turned bright blue! Note: this is an MLM and their products, while excellent are expensive. I'm not signing anyone up, so let's not even go there. What I am telling you is that their products appear to be outstanding and based on before and after blood tests (which you can see on their site), they help the body stay alkaline.

--Coral Calcium. It depends on the formula. I tested a formula purchased at the health food store and it didn't appear to change the litmus strip. I tried Coral Calcium Supreme marketed by Bob Barefoot and Ken Trudeau and the strip turned blue.

--Regular bottled water. No change in the color of the strip.

--Evian Water. The strip turned to medium shade of blue--slightly alkaline.

--Essentia Water. The strip turned to a very light shade of blue--Evian was darker; however, they guarantee a pH of around 9.5! This may be the fastest way to alkalize your body! And the easiest way to stay in balance. They state on their website that it is the nature of this type of water that you can only accurately test the pH with scientific equipment rather than litmus paper. The water is reasonably priced and probably available in most health food stores. I highly recommend that you include their water in your diet. --Atkins Advantage shake mix. Generally, I'm not fond of diet drinks, but I thought I'd test it to see what it looked like. To my surprise, it tested alkaline! I don't know about the other health qualities, but it seems to pass the alkaline test.

--Slimfast Optima drinks. Similar to the Atkins powder above, but a little less.

--EAS Myoplex bars. This was another surprise. I tried one of their cookies and cream bars and took a litmus test right after--dark blue. So again, it passes an initial test for being alkaline.

So what conclusions have I reached:

--To be healthy, I have to concentrate on foods that are live and alkaline.

Adequate water is critical to good health. But, all waters are not the same. While any bottled water is better than no water, whenever available, Essentia and Evian are the best I've tested (see the important note below about Penta Water added after I originally wrote this article! ).

--Live enzymes are critical to maintaining sound health. Most of the foods we eat, even live foods like salads, don't have as many enzymes as we really need. A supplement is likely necessary.

--Some brands of Coral Calcium can be very effective in staying alkaline.

--In a pinch, there are some mass market convenience foods that can satisfy your hunger, that are reasonably priced, and alkaline. Again, not my first choice, but certainly better than reaching for that soda or candy bar!

--Live in outstanding health!

Important Note: I wrote this article before testing Penta Water. I'm adding this extra bonus material because I think it will help you. I'm glad that the internet allows me to edit articles I've already written as I learn new things.

New Bottled Water Recommendation

Earlier this month in my article about alkalizing and energizing your body for better health, I wrote about Essentia Water. I want to let everyone know about another product that I have recently tried that I think is superb: Penta Water. I will warn you in advance that this bottled water is very expensive related to other waters. In California, it sells for $1.65 for a half-liter. But I will also tell you that after drinking it consistently for about a week, it is probably far and away the best water I have ever had.

While it tested neutral for alkalinity, based on the research I found at the Penta website (www.pentawater.com), the special qualities of the water actually create a very high alkalizing effect on the body. Without going into all of the details, not only do they purify the water to a high degree, they also use physics to change the structure of the water so that it creates smaller water clusters at the molecular level. There are other things they do (without adding anything to the water) that appear to have a very beneficial effect. I suggest that you visit their website and read the research for yourself. While it is a bit on the glitzy side, based on my personal experience, I don't think they are overselling their product.

The real proof to me was after I tested my own alkalinity after a few days on the product. Without making any other changes to my diet, the litmus strip came out a very dark blue. It seems clear to me that this is primarily due to drinking a large amount of Penta (about 3 liters or more per day).

The bottom line: if you can afford to drink it regularly (start using those affirmations so you can!), I recommend Penta over any other bottled water currently on the market.

Tattoos are not new. They have been around longer then recorded history. It just seems I have been noticing them a lot more lately. I don't know if that was because I started to take an interest or there are a lot more people getting them.

Before I decided to get my tattoo, I did some home work. I don't come from a background of drunken sailors, so my only thoughts were those dark and dingy, back alley shops you see on late night TV. As most of you reading this can guess, I was wrong. There are clean and reputable tattoo shops even in my town. Some of these tattoo shop are even open during the day light.

I did a lot of internet searching and have learned a lot about tattoos and tattoo shops. Mostly I learned not to prejudge. But some of the things I learned I thought would be worth passing on to my kids and to whoever is deciding to get a tattoo.

Tattoos can put you at risk for contacting many diseases, such as HIV, Hepatitis and even tuberculosis. Tattoos can bring on skin infections such as impetigo, dermatitis and possibly an allergic reaction to the tattoo pigment. To minimize the risk you really need to follow a couple of common sense rules when seeking out a tattoo shop.

Stop by a tattoo shop and look and see if they are using single service equipment. Make sure all needles and tubes are individually packaged, dated, sealed. The person who tattoos should use guidelines created by OSHA, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for the handling of body fluids. And of course, the person doing the tattoo should be wearing gloves.

After you get your tattoo, don't pick or tug on the area of the tattoo. Clean with soap and water not with alcohol. Tattoos are sensitive to sun; use SPF 30 or greater to protect them. Also, use antibiotic cream for several days. The body considers tattoos as an open wound.

I hope anybody considering a tattoo or who has a tattoo and is getting another will just take a few precautions.

Remember friends don't let friend's get a tattoo while under the influence of alcohol or after just meeting Mr. or Ms. Right.

Understanding and using web analytics.

In recent years, website marketers were concerned with increasing &hits' and the &stickiness' of their sites. They were concerned with increasing page views and the amount of time spent on the site. This is definitely a hold over from the paper based businesses of the past, and has proved to not be of much use in the fast moving internet world.

As a result, hits and views are no longer considered useful metrics for evaluating website success. They simply don't provide the right kind of information needed by online marketers. Now they look at conversions, drop-out rates, return on investment and revenue per visitor.

Internet marketers of today want to make more money. To do this, they must understand their visitors, their motives, where they came from, what they were looking for, and how they found the site. And most important of all: what made them make the decision to buy or what made them abandon the purchase.

In order to accomplish this, they need a powerful new set of analysis tools; tools that are fast, accurate and easy to use. And most important, these tools must be able to measure performance over time. That is, the marketer needs to be able to set a baseline for any metric and then measure a percentage of increase or decrease at a later time. And the time frame needs to be long enough to show meaningful results - usually 30 days or more.

Here are a few common problems solved by the proper use of web analytics:

Good traffic, but a high Bounce Rate

A &Bounce' is a visitor who comes to your site and leaves without looking at any other pages. The number of bounces is compared to those who visit more than one page to give a &Bounce Rate'. All websites have a bounce rate. Whether it is high or not is relative to the site. Only numbers taken over a period of time will show an average for any particular site.

There are two main problems that lead to a high bounce rate: Attracting the wrong kind of traffic and not giving the visitor what they were looking for.

To identify the first case, open the New Visitors report. This report should contain a list of unique, first-time visitors. The report should also show the first page visited and where they came from. The origin may be empty, due to a number of reasons outside the control of the analytics package. Select a visitor that came from a search engine. Now &Drill Down' by clicking on the selected line and opening a detail view of this visitor. The detail page will show the search term used to find your site.

Was the search term relative to the subject matter of the landing page? Were they only looking for something free? Looking at a number of search terms will reveal if the wrong kind of traffic is coming in.

If the search terms are appropriate, then the searches are driving qualified traffic to the site. If this is the case, the high bounce rate is due to the page content not properly addressing the visitor expectations.

High Drop-Out Rate

According to Jupiter Research, 71 percent of sites do not analyze customer drop-out rates, even though 66 percent of consumers reported having abandoned a purchase while on a website.

The drop-out rate will show an increase, or hopefully, a decrease with time. A properly designed buying process will capture personal contact information before continuing with the checkout process. This contact information can be used to contact the lost sale and discuss the reasons.

The Drop-Out report should show the visitor, the product and date and time of sale. Select one line in the report and drill down to view the contact information, if available. Call or email the visitor to learn the reasons for abandoning the sale.

Also, the internet marketer should discuss the buying process with current customers. This is an excellent method of increasing customer loyalty. It also provides an opportunity to gather testimonials. Most buyers will have visited several times before they bought. Ask why they didn't buy the first time they visited the site. Also, ask why they came back and what motivated them to buy.

Poor Return On Investment

Probably the most difficult challenge faced by internet marketers is controlling costs. Traffic acquisition can be an expensive proposition, so it is important to get the most out of every click.

The best marketing reports reveal where the money comes from, who the money comes from, and what marketers can do to improve revenues. Marketers can use this information to increase advertisements on sites that reach the most interested parties, provide a better selection of products for different types of visitors, or offer better service to their most valuable visitors.

The marketing reports should show sales grouped by campaign or affiliate. At a minimum, they should show units of sales by product and product options, and preferably revenue.

Compare advertising costs with revenues to identify the most profitable campaigns. Often the marketer will find that one campaign may bring in more visitors, but conversion is low, whereas another might bring in fewer, but more qualified visitors who purchase more.

The use of A/B testing to increase pulling power of ads is vital to keeping ad costs down and attracting qualified visitors. Here, the marketer will find it easy to measure changes and evaluate overall performance. Instead of taking months to identify and understand the effect of a change, it will often show in hours or a few days. This agility means that even smaller e-commerce sites can succeed on limited budgets.

Path Analysis / Clickstream Analysis - Understanding visitors

Not really a problem, but vital to keeping a healthy web business running smoothly. The marketer is also able to identify new trends and opportunities by evaluating the visitors' interest in various content available on the site.

The ideal path through the site should go from the landing page to the products page to the orders page, from there to the checkout and finally to a &Thank You' page.

Deviations might include paths to tutorials, articles and other information pages, but these should be kept to a minimum and always lead back to the main path.

Again, the marketer can select a particular visitor, buyer or drop-out and then drill down to the detail page to reveal every page visited and path taken, as well as the amount of time spent viewing each page. Knowing how long it takes to actually read the page will reveal the amount of interest in the subject matter. Combining this information with keyword searches will reveal how appropriate the content of each page is to the visitor's interests.

In Summary

The value of the analysis far exceeds the nominal cost of the web analytics service. Indeed, it may spell the difference between success and failure. Good web analytics packages can be hard to find, but need not be expensive. Increasingly, more and more comprehensive reports are available at better prices.

To be effective, the marketer must understand what to look for and how to apply the knowledge revealed by the analysis. The learning curve is not steep, and the rewards can be significant.

Much of my time as a Professional Organizer is spent helping people to put things into containers and boxes. But, success in this business requires as much thinking "outside the box" as it does about putting things into containers. I was reminded of this recently, while consulting with clients who own a large, well-appointed suburban home. Two of the issues that the clients presented were the lack of closet space on the main floor, and the constant clutter on a small, built-in desk. Limited closet space resulted in coats' being deposited in the front entry. Shoes were removed inside the garage and dropped on the floor, by the other door into the house. The homeowners were tired of tripping on shoes. And the last thing they wanted (guests) to see was a wall of coats hanging in the foyer. So, the challenge was clear: This active family needed more closet space.

The second problem was the built-in desk. Located adjacent to the kitchen, the desk was an obvious clutter trap. It was probably designed as a bill paying area, or maybe a place for children to do homework. But, the family had a home office, and the children were teens. Over time, this space had become a phone desk, magazine dump, mail dump, clutter repository, etc. So, I asked the client some questions:

"Do you use this desk?"

"A little. For this and that."

"Do you need the desk?"

"No."

"Would you miss the desk if it went away?"

"No."

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

"I'm thinking about ripping out the desk, adding some doors, and turning the space into a closet. Is that what you're thinking?"

"Exactly."

What's the point? The architect designed a built-in desk, the builder built a built-in desk, and the homeowner bought a built-in desk. But, the space wasn't working as a desk. So, we took the same space, and gave it a different name: closet. Same space-different use. Better use of space. More productive use of space. More effective use of space. The ability to make these connections, and visualize new uses is part of thinking out of the box. Sometimes we have to stand back, remove the preconceptions, and let our imagination work. Containers and boxes are important. And sometimes we need to put the containers aside, and think out of the box. It's an important part of learning to become organized.

You Should Look For When Investing In Watercraft

I discovered sailing many years ago and found it to be a wonderful way to enjoy time with friends and family as well as a way to get away from the office and become totally entranced and absorbed with a world that I did not know existed. I love to sail, so much that I became a certified American Sailing Association Sailing Instructor.

It has been 30 years now that I've sailed the Chesapeake Bay, East Coast U.S.A. and the Caribbean Islands and I've been fortunate to have owned a number sailing vessels, currently two Beneteau sail boats.

I'm often asked by my students what to look for when making an investment in a sailing vessel. I often share the following seven tips and hope that you too may find some value in them.

First carefully examine where you expect to use your boat, long term. Will it be on the Ocean, trans-Ocean, near the shore, in a Bay, on the Caribbean or all of the above. If you plan to sail Ocean or trans-Ocean then be sure that the construction is class "A" or rated for extended off shore passage making.

Beware of the buying philosophy "I'll buy a smaller boat now and get a bigger one later." If you're buying new you will suffer two large depreciations. If buying used, the money you put into the first boat to bring it up to your own personal standards and needs will go a long way to paying a down payment or many monthly payments on the second boat. You will be upgrading the second boat anyway. Buy now what you expect to own for 5-10 years.
Take into account the area where you will be sailing and who you will be sailing with. Decide on the type of berths that will be suitable for you, your family and your guests. For example, aft doubles aligned with the axis of the boat or an aft double that runs across the boat port to starboard. Although the latter tends to be larger and more comfortable in the slip it is definitely not a sea going berth. How easily does the main salon table convert into a berth and is it sturdy enough to do so repeatedly? In a pinch or in good weather can any one sleep in the cockpit?
What is your likely cruising range? If just 2-4 days then water and diesel tankage can be respectively 20 and 80 gallons or less. If it is 5-10 days then a minimum would be 50 and 160. If you buy a boat with say 100 gallons diesel and 2-300 gallons water then the designer will have given up berth space to accommodate the tankage. Depending on the size of the boat the left over space may not be well utilized until you reach say a 50 ft. long boat. Look for living and storage space that is well utilized. Odd placement of the main salon settees, chart table and galley may indicate poor utilization of space and hence you may be paying good money for little advantage.
Boats that are heavy displacement, say 28,000 lbs for say a 42 ft. boat rather than say 17,800 lbs for a medium displacement, 42 footer will need 10- 15 knots of wind to develop any kind of "feel" at the helm and in many locations such as the Chesapeake Bay with winds typically 5 - 15 knots in the summer you may have purchased a very nice well equipped power boat. However these heavy displacement cruisers are excellent for extended off shore passage making and live-aboard sailing either in the Caribbean or the U.S.A..
One of the best tips, If you are a first time sailor and want to buy a boat in the 25 to 50 ft range, is to sail with someone who knows how to sail, take a sailing class and then charter a boat in the length range that interests you. Picking a boat with out sailing a boat of similar size is risky although many have done it successfully. Keep in mind that many of the modern designs of the last 10 years are designed specifically for two people to sail easily whether in the Bay or in the ocean.
Lastly, do insist on a survey. If the boat has any of the defects listed below find out the cost to correct them if you are expecting the boat to pass the insurer's surveyor. Insurers have their own requirements. Your insurance agent and the surveyor should be working hand in hand. This is where a purchaser of a used watercraft can suddenly be faced with unexpected costs. Costly defects include but are not limited to:
1. Soft or cracked gellcoat on the deck.
2. Deck leaks around windows, masts, caprail, traveller or through deck fittings.
3. If the engine that has stood idle for more than 6 months diesel may be contaminated with bacterial sludges, have pistons seized, injectors blocked and electrical system contaminated with water. Insist on at least a 2-4 hour run in the water at cruising speed. Check for undue vibration, overheating, proper charging of the batteries and that the engine can come up to its cruising rpm.
4. If the boat is more than 6 years old have the surveyor check that the engine mounts are OK and particularly that all mounting bolts are intact. Two can be broken without any obvious signs or effects. When #3 breaks the engine is loose! This is a common problem on older boats that encounter rough waters while under power and can easily be overlooked by the surveyor.

weeks after the last movie, Hart is somewhat forced into being the face of the FBI because she is no longer able to be an undercover agent due to her new found celebrity. With the help of a new stylist Hart is turned into a glamour girl who is more adept with a lip pencil then a fire arm. Problems arise when her friends from the first movie, Ms. United States (Heather Burns) and Stan Fields (William Shatner) are kidnapped and held for ransom.

The problem is that many of the hijinks and jokes in the film are ones we have seen time and time again. There are multiple costume changes: Bullock in her sassy "I'm the face of the FBI" outfits and a not so funny sequence in a drag club where Bullock and Regina King (Ray, Jerry McGuire) are pretending to be men, pretending to be women and forced to sing karaoke. And how often have we seen the gay stylist, who of course is the only person who could possibly understand any of the women in the film. Can we say overused stereotype? Can we say so not funny? Can we say give me a break?

Speaking of King, who is a very talented actress, she does a horrible job playing the tough, attitude having, angry at the world FBI agent who is assigned to protect Hart as she goes to Vegas to try and save her friends. I mean if you've ever watched America's Next Top Model or the Apprentice you've seen enough of the "black woman with an attitude" that it doesn't need to play out on the big screen. Also their ebony and ivory routine is supposed to be funny and ultimately enlightening but instead comes across as hackneyed and another way to perpetuate long held stereotypes of blacks and whites.

The movie wasn't all bad. There are some funny moments here and there thanks to Shatner who really should have had more lines. And the movie's soundtrack is excellent. Whoever chose the music has a strong love for seventies funk and early eighties R&B. I was bobbing my head through the entire film and was happy to stay to see the credits roll because I was able to hear a favorite tune of mine that I hadn't heard in awhile.

Ultimately the problem with sequels, particularly comedy sequels is that they either do one of two things: they try so hard to make a better movie then the original that they over reach and forget why the first movie was a success or they try so closely to emulate the first movie that the laughs they go for the second time around just seem too contrived and/or forced to be either original or funny. Miss Congeniality 2 falls prey to the latter. In an attempt to be as funny as the first film many of the gags and jokes are overused, overworked, unoriginal and just fall flat. Don't bother going to the theatre to see Miss Congeniality 2. Just wait until it comes out on cable.

Hook Your Direct Mail Sales Letter Readers With Good Transition Sentences

Anglers in Maine catch trout using dry flies with barbless hooks. Unless they keep tension on the line all the way to the net, they lose the trout. Your sales letters must do the same. But how?

One secret to keeping busy business readers hooked is to use irresistible transition sentences. Transition sentences come at the end of one paragraph and the beginning of the next. Good transition sentences leave your readers hanging in a number of ways.

One of them is to tell your reader that a number of things are coming up, forcing your reader to transition to the next paragraph to learn what some of those things are. If you've ever listened to a person with a pronounced stutter, you know how hard it is to wait while that person completes a thought. Your prospects are the same. If you almost complete a thought at the end of one paragraph, they will begin reading the paragraph that follows to complete your thought. But that's not all.

Another way to keep your reader hooked throughout your copy is to end one paragraph with "that's not all" or a similar phrase. Or to start your next paragraph with the word "another." Each device shows the prospect that you have not finished, that the prospect has more to learn. And so the prospect keeps reading. And yes, there are some other hooks you might want to try.

You can start a paragraph with the word "you," the one word that prospects and customers never tire of seeing in print. Or you could try another proven tactic.

And that is starting a paragraph with the word "and." Read the Gospel of Mark in the Bible sometime. It's one of my favourite books. You'll find the narrative almost impossible to stop reading, it's so exciting. That's because the writer begins so many of his sentences with "and" that you are compelled to continue reading to discover what comes next. (I won't give away how the book ends. Read it and find out.) But there's another device that's just as powerful as the word "and." Do you know what it is?

It's the question mark. Put one at the end of one paragraph, with the answer at the beginning of the next paragraph, and you'll keep your readers headed towards your net.

So here's the one thing you need to remember. You've figured out by now that the secret to effective transition sentences is to keep your prospective buyer in a state of suspended satisfaction, one where they must keep reading your letter to the end before they feel gratified. And there's only one sure way of doing that.

Beijing

Beijing is the capital for China. It was also a capital for the last two monarchies that ruled China before being overthrown by Sun Yat Sun in 1911 and has been the capital since Mao Tse Tung declared China a People's Republic in 1949.

Beijing is located in northern China, close to Tianjin Municipality and partially surrounded by Hebei Province. The city covers an area of more than 16,800 square kilometers (6,487 square miles) and has a population of 13.82 million people. Beijing is at its best in late spring and autumn, particularly during the months of May, September, and October when people can enjoy bright sunshine and blue skies.

As the capital of the People's Republic of China, Beijing is the nation's political, economic, cultural and educational center as well as being the China's most important center for international trade and communications. It has been the heart and soul of politics and society throughout its long history and consequently there is an unparalleled wealth of discovery to delight and intrigue travelers as they explore Beijing's ancient past and enjoy its exciting modern development.

The red colour of the tiled roves, green colour of the trees thills and blue of the sea contrast beautifully. All this along with its beautiful climate, make the city well-known as a summer and health resort.

The city occupies an area of 10 654 km2. The city is located in flatlands, with mountains spurring up nearby. The highest elevation in the area is 1133 m above sea level. The city has a 730.64-kilometer coastline. Five significant rivers that flow for more than 50 km can be found in the region.

Qingdao is estimated to be the home for more than 7 million inhabitants, of which around 2.6 million is residing in the Qingdao urban area.

Qingdao enjoys mild summers and relatively warm winters, with the average July temperature at 23.8�½C and the average January temperature at -0.7�½C. The city gets most rain in June and July, at an average of 150 mm.

Qingdao has very strong German influence in the 19th century and many German influenced buildings can still be seen. In fact, Qingdao beer is famous throughout the world, and every year, hundreds of thousands of people, both local and overseas gather in Qingdao for the annual Beer festival.

Qingdao attracts many tourists due to its seaside setting and excellent weather. Parks, beaches and sculpture -- as well as some unique architecture -- line the shore. Qingdao's major attractions include:

* Ba Da Guan, the older area of town with some surviving German architecture.

* Laoshan, a famous Taoist mountain.

* Lu Xun Park, named after Lu Xun, a famous modern Chinese writer.

* Qingdao Beer Museum, on the site of the old brewery.

* Qingdao Naval Museum

* Qingdao International Beer City, the primary site of the annual Qingdao International Beer Festival.

* Qingdao Underwater World

* St. Michael's Cathedral, a Gothic/Roman cathedral designed by German architect Pepieruch, completed in 1934.

* Zhan Qiao (Zhan Pier)

* Zhanshan Temple, Qingdao's only Buddhist temple.

Qingdao has such nice weather and scenary that the China ruling party has a large rest and retirement santuary in Qingdao for it's retired cadres.

Hear a bird singing and I am there. See a tree and that is where I live. I am in every part, in all atoms, in each superstring, in every cell and fibre of your being. Yet, when I see people, I see people hurrying, worrying, and making a drama from the smallest thing. It seems that everyone wants be anywhere but here, right now. There is no resonance with consciousness; instead there is disharmony, which only serves to deaden the essence of you. You walk as if already dead, but pretend to be alive. You have hidden the natural grace that is your birthright.

You were not like this once. When you were a young infant you cried without shame or regret. When you laughed it was heartfelt and the world laughed with you. You were just as happy to doodle in a colouring book, as you were to play with a friend. There was never a thought of "I would be happier doing something else". You were happy and content and that was enough. When you showed affectionate to others it did not come from a place of need or wanting something in return. You were affection incarnate. You had no notion of a human being instead you were "being" constantly. As this young child, you did not know fear in being.

Now that you are not being, but rather a human being which knows fear all too well, can you honestly say you have moved even an inch closer to eternal peace and joy? Look from your own experience; is anyone that you know abiding constantly in deep harmonic peace? Are they even happy 85% of the time? I in form know of only one being that is happy over 85% of the time. She is my niece aged 21 months. She is the most enlightened person I know.

In a few years time she will be indoctrinated to live in fear and enlightenment will be hidden from her. She will no longer live in the loving embrace that is I; instead she will experience doubt, guilt, shame, anxiety, and apprehension. She will become a human being and miss the divinity that is always before her.

She, like you will not know that every moment is a divine creation. The wind that blows through your hair, the smell of the ocean that is alive and fresh, the sunset that allows you to weep with joy at its ephemeral beauty are sacred creations. As you writhe in the ecstasy of passion, as you feel deeply the splendour of a child and as you rejoice in being, this too is divine creation unfolding before your eyes.

Divinity is in each and every moment. This is where the sacred realm of the God exists. It is not out there or up there, rather it is here before you and within you.

Our bodies are naturally designed to breathe properly, but we tend to override this advantage with bad breathing habits. Your shoulders should not lift. Your chest should not stiffen. Your stomach should not push out as you exhale. If you breathe in more than sixteen times a minute your breathing is too rapid and too shallow.

The rib cage and the diaphragm are the main parts of the body involved in inhaling and exhaling. You can feel your rib cage, but you are probably unaware of your diaphragm. The diaphragm is a thick layer of muscle between the lungs and the intestines. When you breathe in it contracts, pulling downward on the chest cavity and pressing down on the stomach and intestines. When you exhale it relaxes.

Do you use your diaphragm correctly when you breathe? Try this exercise to find out. Lie on your back with your right hand resting on your upper chest, and your left hand on your abdomen. Relax for a while until your breathing becomes normal then notice what your hands are doing. When you breathe in your left hand should rise and your right hand should remain fairly still.

Breathing is also important because it can produce a calming effect when we feel anxious. Deep breathing is accepted as a way to calm nerves in many situations. Even professionals use the technique before stepping on stage or standing up for a speech. Try the following next time you feel yourself becoming tense.

Breathe in for a count of one, and then breathe out for a count of one.

Breathe in for a count of two, and then out for a count of two.

Breathe in for a count of three, and then out for a count of three.

Continue until you are breathing in for a count of twelve, and out for a count of twelve. Keep the counting at a constant rhythm. If you cannot comfortably reach twelve do not strain yourself to reach this figure. Inhale and exhale for as long as you find comfortable and do not hold your breath to complete the count.

During this exercise focus on how your body expands and relaxes as you breathe in and out. More oxygen will reach your brain as you do the exercise, making your mind sharper and making you feel refreshed and relaxed.

Creative Homemaking: "Freezing Cookie Dough" Cookbook

You don't have to own a bread machine to enjoy the variety of bread machine mixes. And you don't have to make blocky, square loaves with holes in the bottom. You can make wonderful rolls, traditional sandwich loaves, and artisan loaves with or without the aid of a bread machine. In this article, we will tell you how to convert any bread machine mix into great breads by hand, with your stand-type mixer, or with your bread machine.

First, we'll show you how to bake tempting breads from bread machine mixes without a bread machine. We'll use our Sour Cream Onion Bread Mixes because we like this onion bread so much (and we get to enjoy it when we�½re through with this demonstration). We like to make more than one loaf when we bake so we'll use two mixes and combine them. (When we have more bread than we can use, we slice and freeze it.) We'll mix these in a bowl instead of using our stand-type mixer and bake one in a pan and make one into a classy artisan loaf just to demonstrate versatility.

To mix in a bowl, empty the mixes into a large bowl. Mix the yeast in the warm water and add the mixture to the bowl. Add melted butter. (Be careful to let the butter cool below 140 degrees so that it will not kill the yeast.) Stir with a spatula until the mass starts to stick together. When you cannot comfortably stir any further, dump the dough onto a floured surface and begin kneading. (The dough will likely be slightly wetter than you can handle by hand. A tablespoon or so of flour on the counter should make it just right. Do not add too much flour--a softer dough will rise better.) Knead the dough until it is elastic--ten to twelve minutes. Place it in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise until doubled--about an hour.

To mix using a stand-type mixer, empty one of the mixes into the mixer bowl (or half of one mix if you are baking a single loaf). Add the yeast and the water and mix with your dough hook on medium speed for 40 seconds--to start to dissolve the yeast. Add the other mix (or the rest of the mix if you are baking one loaf) and the melted butter and continue mixing at medium speed for another four minutes to develop the gluten. If the dough is too sticky, add one tablespoon flour. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it and let it rise until doubled--about an hour.

Once the dough has risen, you may form the dough into rolls, a pan-shaped loaf, or a free-standing loaf.

To form a free-standing loaf, pull the dough around the center creating a taut outer skin and a well-shaped loaf. Pinch the seams together on the bottom and place the loaf on a baking sheet that has been greased and sprinkled with cornmeal. Cover the loaf and let it rise until doubled--about an hour.

To form a pan-shaped loaf, pull the dough around the center to form a taut skin and place the loaf in a large greased 5 x 9-inch loaf pan. Cover and let rise.

To form rolls, cut away egg-sized chunks of the risen dough and pull the dough taut around the center of the roll as you would a loaf, pinching the seam on the bottom. Place the rolls on a greased pan, cover, and let rise. One bread machine mix should make a dozen medium-sized rolls.

Most artisan loaves are baked with a thicker, chewier crust than pan-shaped loaves. To create these crusts, the bread is baked in a steamy environment and it is baked to a higher internal temperature in order to drive more moisture from the loaf. (Moisture trapped in the interior of the loaf will migrate to the crust and soften it.) The internal temperature of crusty breads should reach 210 degrees. Bake the pan-shaped loaf at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until done. The interior of the loaf should be at least 190 degrees.

Bake rolls for 18 to 20 minutes at 350 degrees or until done.

Sacramento, California's beautiful capital city at the junction of the American and Sacramento Rivers is disarmingly deceptive. The California State Capitol was constructed and furnished between 1860 and 1874 during a period of US cultural history known as the American Renaissance, a time when artists, artisans, architects, craftsmen, and philanthropists set out to equal or exceed the greatest achievements of preceding civilizations. Its pristine white architecture looks like something straight out of the Holy Roman Empire. Eight Roman Corinthian columns on the front portico lead the eye to the elaborate rooftop sculptures, beyond the shining copper dome punctuated by a glittering 30 inch gold ball set against a clear, Sacramento sky. Inside, are beautifully restored massive wooden doors, magnificently carved stairways and a fabulous Carrara marble statue of Queen Isabella and Christopher Columbus. Other features include a circular room of murals depicting early California life, and furnished rooms of the restored turn-of-the-century Governor's office, Secretary of State's office, and Treasurer's office. The Secretary of State's office has old files stacked up and tied in red ribbon, showing the origins of the governmental term "Red Tape." The Senate is decorated in red as in the British House of Lords, while the Assembly is green, as in the House of Commons, and both chairs for each head of the chambers are symbolic of the British monarchy-themes borrowed from the British Parliament from which the United States bases its two-house system.

Tip: Grab a meal at the statehouse restaurant located in the basement. Warm red brick walls, arches and the cool cellar atmosphere give the ambience of an Italian grotto. Note the

walls and arches made from old bricks retrieved during the massive 1970s restoration when the building was, as the tour guide says, "carved out like a melon," then recreated to its original beauty, based on old photos and furnishings found in storage. Notice the old pictures on the restaurant walls, particularly the photo of the "Insectuary," a building dedicated to "breeding beneficial insects" affectionately called the "Bug House."

Check it out . . . Take a walk through the 40-acre Capitol Park and enjoy the sweet scent of rose gardens and over 400 exotic plants and trees from all over the world. Two intriguing 20th century war memorials are also on the grounds. The Vietnam War Memorial has many sculptures of men in battle, and a rare sculpture of POW's. The plaque reads: "To the memory of those who died or remain missing."

�€� Old Sacramento

Old Sacramento is an old Western town encompassing ten blocks with two main streets flanked by wood plank sidewalks. Plenty of side streets loaded with two- and three-story picturesque buildings from the Gold Rush days make a fascinating walking tour. Listen to echo of shoe heels clapping along the wooden sidewalks, as pedestrians stroll past shops and restaurants that once housed rowdy barrooms and gambling halls during the heyday of the 1849 Gold Rush. Today the smell of grilled steaks and homemade candy fills the air, competing with the sounds of nearby trains and laughing children carrying gigantic pinwheel lollipops of rainbow hues. The restored 1876 Central Pacific Railroad Station is in the center of town and the California State Railroad Museum nearby houses more than 20 restored locomotives and passenger cars.

A pedestrian tunnel from Old Sacramento leads visitors to Downtown Plaza, a modern mall complex with an open-air market, a megaplex cinema, specialty stores, clothing stores, ethnic restaurants and minstrels from all walks of life: peripatetic musicians, jugglers, mimes and other street performers entertain shoppers and diners. A recently restored Art Deco vaudeville theater several blocks east shows independent and foreign films.

�€� Sutter's Fort State Park

In 1839 while California was still under the Mexican flag, Captain John Sutter, a Swiss immigrant received a 50,000-acre land grant at the confluence of the Sacramento and American Rivers. Nine years later, while building a sawmill, Sutter's partner, John Marshall, saw gold shining through the river. Walking back to his workmen, he remarked, in possibly the understatement of the century, "Boys, I believe I found a gold mine." But when Sutter heard the report, he feared ruination for his mill businesses. His fears were not unfounded. The scent of easy money attracted thousands of desperate people who flooded the new American territory, launching one of the greatest gold rushes in history, and establishing a new city, Sacramento, to serve the influx of prospectors. As Sutter suspected, mill workers deserted their jobs in search of gold, while invading goldseekers tore Sutter's fences to build ramshackle housing on his land. Both Sutter and Marshall died penniless. Sutter later wrote, "By the sudden discovery of gold, all my great plans were destroyed . . . I should have been the richest citizen on the Pacific . . . Instead of being rich, I am ruined."

The state park is the site of the first white settlerment in this region. An 1839 adobe structure, faithfully reconstructed, now houses mementoes from the pioneer period and the Gold Rush era. (The original gold nugget Marshall found is now at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C.)

Akashic Temple: Free tarot readings, psychic readings contest and love spells.

There is a prophetic mosaic that few have attempted to explain, because it's fulfillment appears to be shrouded in a cloak of elusiveness, and at the moment, seeming improbability. Yet we know it must be fulfilled sometime within the next few years, or other prophecies which directly hinge on it will not be able to be fulfilled. This prophetic anomaly revolves around how, and when, Israel will regain absolute jurisdiction over The Temple Mount long enough to allow them to build their Third Temple. After all, according to the book of Daniel, there will soon arise a world leader who will desecrate the Temple mid-Trib. Therefore, it logically must be assumed that in order for him to carry out this treachery, a Temple, complete with all Temple worship priestly activities in operation, must first be erected on The Temple Mount!

There have been occasional attempts by well-meaning, but somewhat fringe individuals, to free The Temple Mount from the Muslims. But none of these attempts have been successful, because the LORD does not honor those who take matters into their own hands. Rather, the LORD Himself will bring about fulfillment of specific prophecies which will free The Temple Mount from the pagan presence of Islam, and place it undeniably within Israeli control.

The political and religious mechanisms necessary for this to be accomplished are already in the process of unfolding. The current situation in The Middle East is complex, and even though we do see the unfolding of prophecy as the Quartet (the USA, the UN, the EU, and Russia) is attempting to do everything possible to bring about peace by trying to form an independent Palestinian State alongside Israel, we are able to conclude that such an eventuality will not procure a lasting peace in the region, so long as there are equally strong Islamic forces which desire to annihilate Israel.

Also, because of the raging controversy regarding national sovereignty over the Land, Israel's current Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, is showing signs of beginning to succumb under the weight of international pressures, and is dictatorially pushing for Unilateral Withdrawal of all Jews from Gaza, as well as eventually from parts of Judea and Samaria. This program of withdrawal is not sitting well with many Israelis, even though the leftist leaning media has tried to tell us otherwise. Needless to say, many of the Palestinians, along with the Arab terrorist organizations, are beginning to sense some victory for their efforts. Some terrorist leaders have vowed to step-up their activities as withdrawal proceeds, in order to further their cause. Their ultimate desire is to annihilate Israel.

Security is a constant concern for both Palestinians and Jews. Therefore, to deter the smuggling of illegal weapons, and to prevent terrorist atrocities against Israel from Gaza following Israel's withdrawal, Egypt has been approached to oversee and provide security in Gaza.

But what does all this have to do with The Temple Mount?

Security on The Temple Mount is administered by the Waqf, a branch of Arafat's terrorist Fatah organization, which, needless to say, is not favorable to any religious activity by either Jews or Christians within the Mount area. In fact, they frustrate both Jews and Christians by variously opening and closing access to the Mount. Even when access is granted, the number of non-Muslim visitors allowed at any given time is severely limited. Security is cited as the reason for such restrictions.

Along with the above, the Mount geologically is unstable. Seismic activity of a fault line that passes through The Mount of Olives, under The Temple Mount, and extends into The Old City, has increased of late. Also, the southern wall of the Mount has become unstable due to unethical and illegal excavating on the part of the Muslims, in order to build an underground Mosque in the area referred to as Soloman's Stables. This weakening of the south wall has caused cracks and some sloughing along both of the southeastern and southwestern corners. Meanwhile, a growing length of the south wall itself is dangerously bulging. This bulge has been slowed down somewhat with band-aid repairs by Jordanian and Egyptian engineers, but everyone knows the wall will eventually collapse. The geological seismic activity, coupled with the south wall instability, have the potential to escalate animosities between Israel and the Islamic Arabs, if anyone is hurt or killed when further damage to the Mount inevitably occurs.

Couple this with the fact that both Muslims and Jews claim The Temple Mount area as sacred territory, and we can easily understand the ramifications for both Israelis and Muslims when these inevitable catastrophes occur.

The Temple Mount represents the presence of God to Israel. During the tenures of both the first and second Temples, the Shekinah Glory presence of God rested within the Temple. There are some Jewish rabbis who believe this presence has never actually left The Temple Mount area, and, since no one knows for certain where the Shekinah is on the Mount, they feel it is inappropriate for Jews to ascend the Mount until another Temple is constructed, for fear of encountering the power of God, and incurring a curse upon themselves. (But of course, this also begs the question of how a Temple will even eventually be built under such a possible curse, since contractors and their crews will obviously have to work there to construct it! What they fail to remember, is Ezekiel actually witnessed the Glory leave the Mount!) Therefore, the religious community is divided regarding whether Jews should be allowed to enter the Mount area, other than to pray at the Kotel -- the Western Wailing Wall.

Meanwhile, The Land of Israel and Temple Mount Faithful, headed by Gershon Salomon, is dedicated to regaining control of The Temple Mount, and to the building of the Third Temple. Their efforts will soon pay off. But when? And more importantly, how?

God has always dealt with Israel according to His plans and purposes, in fulfillment of His prophetic timetable. God brought about the destruction of the previous two Temples as discipline. Therefore the presence of the Temple on the Mount, or the lack of it's presence, reveals the discipline and prophetic purposes of God for Israel. He has an appointed time on His prophetic schedule when Israel will regain the Mount, and the Temple will then be re-built.

The LORD seldom accomplishes one goal in isolation of other prophetic purposes. His freeing of The Temple Mount is directly tied to both deliverance for Judah and Jerusalem from her enemies, and the establishment of Israel in the Land of Covenant. However, there

is a definite prophetic piece-by-piece process involved, and the freeing of The Temple Mount to allow the Third Temple to be built is part of this process. But at what juncture in the unfolding of prophecy does this necessary fulfillment take place?

When Gabriel explained to Daniel the unfolding of God's discipline upon Judah and Jerusalem, he made reference to what appears to be a calamity that results in the need to rebuild a "wall" and a "street." Daniel 9:25b states: "the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times." Although this is stated within the explanation regarding the breakdown of the Seventy Weeks, the context does not specifically state that the "wall" and "street" are rebuilt during the Seventieth Week. Rather, the repairs are accomplished within the sixty-nine week breakdown, prior to the Seventieth Tribulation Week. Therefore, the repair of the "wall" and "street" is a prophetic sign which likely will be fulfilled during the sixty-ninth week.

Also, notice the "street" and "wall" are singular, not plural. This prophecy has not yet unfolded, because at the time of the return of Judah from their seventy year captivity, repairs were made to all the walls and streets, plural, surrounding the entire Old City of Jerusalem. Therefore there must be coming a specific calamity which must result in the need for a wall and a street, singular, to be repaired, and this will be accomplished during troublesome times. Collapse of the south wall of The Temple Mount could fulfill this prophecy, because repairs would be done under great duress between Islamic and Jewish factions.

Along with the above, the current stance Israel is taking in withdrawal from the Land that God obviously handed to them during the 1967 Six Day War, (which included The Temple Mount,) has ramifications which will result in revealing His involvement in the situations developing in the Middle East. Israel acted in fear and disobedience by returning the Mount to Jordan in 1967. Jordan then turned the Mount over to the newly formed Palestinian Authority. If Israel had retained the Mount, they most certainly would have had to endure some repercussions from the Muslims. What form this would have taken is open to conjecture, because Israel did not give God a chance to show His blessing. Therefore, because of rejecting the Mount, Israel is now headed down the road to inevitable war!

The Unilateral Withdrawal, with the subsequent set-up of a Palestinian State, will escalate the onset of this coming war. The first conflict regarding these issues will be the Battle of Gog and Magog, which will result in temporarily freeing Judea and The Temple Mount from Muslim jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, the inclusion of Egypt as a source of security following the Unilateral Withdrawal process will feed this whole scenario, and interestingly, the wall surrounding the Temple Mount is indeed to be used as the prophetic sign, telling us God does know what is transpiring within Israel! Notice what Isaiah states regarding approaching Egypt for help. Isaiah 31:1."Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many, and horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!" What is Israel doing approaching Egypt for assistance? That is not God's desire for them! Verse 3 of the same chapter says, "Now the Egyptians are men, and not God." This verse continues by stating, "When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fall together." Both Israel and Egypt will lose! Isaiah 36:6 states, "Lo, thou trustest in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him."

Also, Isaiah chapter 30 explains what God thinks of those who do not trust Him, but rather trust in Egypt. This chapter is prophetic regarding the present scenario! It's as if Isaiah were a journalist covering the currently breaking news in the Middle East, providing us with a dictated written editorial from the LORD Himself! Let's begin reading at verse 1. "Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me, and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: Verse 2: That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth: to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!" Israel is even now seeking to rest under Egypt's military covering, and to trust in the protective shadow of Egypt! Verse 3. "Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion." Verse 7. "For the Egyptians shall help in vain, and to no purpose: therefore have I cried concerning this, Their strength is to sit still." Hello!!

Sit still!! Do not leave Gaza!! Do not consider leaving Samaria or Judea!! But will Israel follow this directive?

There are many within Israel trying to point out the folly of Unilateral Withdrawal, but Sharon and his ilk are ignoring them, and even threatening them with legal discipline. This chapter continues. Verses 8-10. "Now go, write it in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever: That this is a rebellious people, lying children that will not hear the law of the LORD: Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:" Is Sharon listening to the Land of Israel Rabbis, or to the evangelical Christians trying to point out the will of the LORD for Israel. Did he pay any attention to the Human Chain, or to the Orange protest rallys? NO! In fact, the powers that are insisting on withdrawal are trying to silence the voices of protest and reason! They are shoving aside those who protest, by saying. Verse 11: "Get out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us." Now that's dangerous!!

So what will be the LORD's response? Verses12-14. "Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon (insist on your plan) Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant." Is not the south wall of the Temple Mount even now swelling out of alignment? This swelling of the south wall began high in the wall during a Ninth of Av, 2001 prayer vigil, held by The Land of Israel and Temple Mount Faithful!! The swelling has been steadily increasing ever since, and the weakened wall is considered in real danger to collapse! Does God have a physical sign for Israel which may well burst suddenly when Israel withdraws, and Egypt is actually called in to bring "security"in Gaza? Yes, the wall will collapse, to cause Israel to take stock of what she is doing. Then the wall will need repairing, and the street that runs fairly close to the south Wall will also need fixing, and this will all unfold under troubling, dangerous, circumstances -- just as Gabriel stated to Daniel!So when will the Third Temple be built? The collapse of the southern aspect of The Temple Mount wall very well may render the entire Mount area to be unusable for the Muslims, because the Mosques situated there will be severely damaged. They will have to find alternate facilities until the area is totally restored. They will blame Israel for the collapse and damage, and insist that Israel fund and repair the area. Therefore, Israel will gain access to The Temple Mount through a disciplinary act of God! The Temple will finally be rebuilt as a result of the routing of the Muslims from the Mount through an act of God showing His displeasure against Israel calling upon Egypt for assistance, thus causing the Mount wall to crumble.

In the course of this whole scenario, war also will result, not simply because of Temple Mount animosities, but because of several concurrent factors which will draw Russia (the King of the North) and her allies into Israel. This Russian invasion will be thwarted by God turning them back on the mountains of Israel, (the West Bank.) As a result, Israel will entrench jurisdiction over all of Judea, and Jerusalem will be secure. However, Gaza, and quite possibly part of Samaria, will remain temporarily in Palestinian hands, probably as an interim Palestinian State.

Following this war led by the King of the North, a short time of unsettled peace will ensue, and a new Prime Minister will arise in Israel. This leader will not be the Antichrist, but will be a politician referred to as a "raiser of taxes." See Daniel 11:20."Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes in the glory of the kingdom: but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle." In order to tax the population, there will have to be a relatively strong economy, so this indicates a time of relative peace and prosperity will follow the Battle of Gog and Magog. The Israeli citizens will obviously have jobs and incomes which can be taxed, (which also means the world economy will recover for a short time, because Israel depends on foreign trade to survive.) But notice, the purpose of this increase in taxation will be very specific. It will be ear-marked for "the glory of the kingdom." What is Israel's &Kingdom glory?" The Temple! So this leader will collect taxes to specifically make sure the Temple is built on the Temple Mount. The Raiser of Taxes who will expedite this project is often overlooked, but he is important. Unfortunately this Prime Minister will not remain in office for very long, but not because anyone is angry with him, and not because of another immediate war.

Now to not have anyone angry with him as a result of raising taxes will be somewhat of a miracle! Why will no one be angered? The Israeli population, and Jews world-wide, will finally, and quickly, before anyone can mount opposition to the project, be able to build their Temple! Because there will be a short time of peace and prosperity following Gog and Magog, (the Sixth Seal Calm of Revelation chapter 7, allowing also the 144,000 to be sealed to take the Gospel world-wide), indicated by the fact that the Raiser of Taxes is not brought down by battle, the Jews will be able to have enough security in Israel to build the Third Temple! That also means the Islamic factions within Israel will be temporarily defanged until this Prime Minister's demise, which also will be a miracle!

Therefore, the Unilateral Withdrawal Plan, Egyptian security in Gaza, the collapse of the south wall, the Battle of Gog and Magog, and raising taxes, will all work together to bring about the unfolding of prophecy, allowing the building of the Third Temple on The Temple Mount.

Hard wax, often called no-strip wax, cures firmly so that it may be lifted without a strip. Hard or no-strip waxes tend to be gentler than soft waxes and are often the esthetician's choice for waxing sensitive areas such as eyebrows, faces, navels, bikinis and underarms.

High quality hard or no-strip waxes are primarily formulated with natural resins and copolymers with secondary ingredients rounding out the profile of the product. The quality of the resin and the precise percentage of copolymers determine how the wax "performs." The

trick is to blend enough copolymers or buffering agents so that the wax stays pliable as it dries while still curing hard enough to grab and remove hairs. Dip an orangewood stick, wooden applicator or spatula into the wax. Scrape the underside of the applicator on the edge of the wax container so that wax is on only one side of the spatula. Twirl the spatula over the jar until you have control of the wax. Spread

a thin, even layer of wax in the same direction as hair growth (if the follicle is the start and the tip of the hair is the end, spread wax from the follicle towards the end). Finish spreading with a slight upturn to create a "tab" at the end of the wax you've spread.

Hold the skin firmly with one hand. Using the tip or side of your finger, flip the wax up at the edge. Grabbing the edge of the wax, quickly whisk the wax in the opposite direction of hair growth staying close and parallel to the skin.

In these days of takeovers and mergers, of downsizings and lean management, chances are that you are going to be caught in a job upheaval at least once in your career. Probably more than once!

Change in the wind may come like an invigorating breeze on a hot humid night. For instance, your boss is promoted to a new job and you have to get used to reporting to someone new, who turns out to be even better. But change also can come as a spark before the forest fire, when an outside takeover of your company leads to unexpected layoffs, outsourcing, and redefinition of the company itself.

But whatever the situation, once you've got a new job or a new boss or a new company, you must realize you have to change. That's survival lesson number one. The worst thing you can do is cling to the old ways of doing things or to ignore what's happening right before your eyes. To deal effectively with change, you need to pay attention to four stages of workplace transition.

Stage 1. Something's Up: What To Do Before The Change.

If you're lucky, you'll have some advance warning and time to prepare. Sometimes you simply have the uneasy feeling that something is up. There might be lots of hushed conversations or closed-door meetings. Top management might seem especially busy and inaccessible. Or the rumor mill is running high.

If you sense something is happening, get out there and keep informed. Don't stay buried behind your desk or in your office. Be visible inside and outside your company. Just because you're doing a good job, don't assume you'll be taken care of. While you're gathering information within your own company, keep your antennae up and ears perked for news of openings in your field. Pass the word discreetly among professional colleagues that you're thinking of trying something new. You may not need to or want to change jobs, but it's important that you know what's out there.

As soon as you know something definite, plan how you are going to manage yourself. The change, no matter how big or how small, will affect you personally. By acknowledging your feelings of anxiety, frustration or loss, you can get beyond the initial shock more quickly, start thinking more sensibly about your career options and move on.

Stage 2. Getting Acquainted: The First Couple of Months.

In the first weeks of the transition, take extra care to be visible, productive, and open to change. This is not a good time to go on vacation for two weeks. Ask yourself: Is there professional opportunity here? Or, should I now begin looking elsewhere? How can you decide whether to put your energy into making a go of it or to start letting go?

First, do more research. If there is new ownership, learn all you can about that corporate culture. Study past, as well as, current reports in the business press. Ask people what it's like to work there. If you're used to a regimented, bureaucratic company and the new owner has an entrepreneurial approach you may be in for big changes. However, if you have a flexible, go-get-em personality, you might find it exhilarating.

If you have a new boss, find out how she was perceived in her previous job. Pick up the phone and ask around to find someone who knows her work. If it's a restructuring, try to understand the reasons behind it. What is the company dealing with now, that it wasn't dealing with in the past? What goals is it trying to accomplish in the reorganization? In what way can you contribute to these new goals?

Put yourself in your boss's shoes. What are the key problems that need to be solved right now? Are you part of the problem or are you part of the solution? Are there things you could be doing right now to come out ahead of the game? If you choose to stay, it's up to you to get on with the program, and to show your new boss how indispensable you really are. Do it as soon as you can. If you hang back it might get harder. Take the initiative. Ask for a meeting to discuss your background, to provide an update on your projects, and to find out about the new goals for your team, department or division. You need to be perceived as adding value not just taking up space.

Stage 3. Settled In: The Six Month Benchmark.

Now that the dust has settled, it's the time to gauge your career health. If you're working with a new boss or new owners or are in a totally different area, ask yourself: Do I feel like an active participant or am I on the sidelines looking in? Have I gotten reassuring comments or positive feedback? If you are in the dark, take the risk and request a meeting with your boss to discuss your performance.

You need to be direct. Say, "I've been working hard to cooperate and adjust to the changes, but I've been wondering, how am I doing from your point of view? And what's the next six months going to look like?"

You may get an indirect response such as: "You're doing fine, keep up the hard work"; or "Let's set a time to discuss this further." However, don't be satisfied with an evasive or avoidance answer. Performance feedback is essential during times of organizational transition. If all the signs are looking good, you can start breathing a sign of relief. But don't let your guard down completely. The next six months are also very important.

Stage 4. A Year After: Is The Coast Clear?

By the time you're a year or more into a major change in your organization, it's reasonable to wonder: Has my work life settled down at last? Am I home free? After a year, if not before, take time out from your normal routine and evaluate what's been going on.

Has the sense of crisis passed? Do you see a gradual shift to a more smoothly run ship? Is your area still moving in the new direction, even if there has been an occasionally glitch? Is your new boss fitting into the company and working well with her staff and superiors? If this is the case, great! You've come through the storms of change and now are going on to calmer times, at least for the short term, - long term who knows?

Or is the atmosphere still very hectic despite many attempts to try to fix what's not working? Or, is everything on hold again for the nth time waiting for someone to make the decision to move ahead? Or do you feel that your workload does not seem to be easing up? In fact, it's getting worse. Sad to say, sometimes things never calm down especially in troubled industries or rapidly changing ones.

If this is your scenario, you may decide that you need a break from the relentless change. You can try to find a calmer port within your company or you may need to seriously consider finding a new job all together. Taking control of one's career sometimes means making some very hard decisions. But once a decision is made and action is taken, then you can get on with your life. You pick a pen, grab a piece of paper and scribble...or, nowadays, turn on your PC, go to MSWord, exhaust your fingers on the keyboard...and you're done...instant article! That easy, and you're an instant celebrity.

It has been made clear that everybody can write. Why not? It's as basic as reading. Once you've mastered the alphabet, able to distinguish plural from singular and loaded your cerebral bank with tons of vocabulary, you're off to a good start.

Much has been written on the how-to of writing - from poetry to essays to novels - but only less on the why side of writing. Allow me to blab on that for a change.

Why write?

of essay writing classes and four years of enduring journalism teachers who were fond of dumping projects with tight deadlines helped me come up with the reasons for writing.

Reason #1 Power

Writing is a good weapon in swaying opinions, influencing people's mindset and way of living and in fighting for causes believed in.

Being a writer, you can bask in the glow of glamour. You become a celebrity but most of all a leader.

Reason #2 Expression

Other than being a weapon of might, writing is a good outlet for your pent-up emotions. Also, it allows the graceful or direct presentation of opinions and know-how.

Reason #3 Attention

You can use writing to bring attention to an issue you deem important or to things unheard of, which you want to share. As for my case, the scribbled words became my voice.

Through writing, you can reach a great number of readers from all walks of life without exhausting your vocal chords.

Reason #4 Entertainment

You can write for people's delight, and even for your own entertainment when you've got nothing else to do.

Reason #5 Immortality

You can be immortalized through people's memory; the written works you leave behind would remind them of you and your ideals.

Reason #6 It's a Write-Or-Starve Situation

It's your job. No escape. Write or be fired.

Reason #7 For Others

Most of all, write for others, not only for your self. Use writing to reach out to someone who feels alone and misunderstood, and who needs all the comfort in the world. Use writing to teach a lesson. My mentors had made that perfectly clear to me.

Before, I was merely satisfied with creating a world of my own. I enjoyed playing god. However, I soon realized that to be a better writer, I must not write merely for myself.

As a writer, you have readers whom you communicate a world of ideas, and who are affected by what you write. Don't only think of yourself. By becoming a writer, you have taken a responsibility to the society. You are molding and reshaping somebody's persona.

As a writer, you move readers to do something. Lead them to the light; lead them to the truth. They deserve nothing less.

One of my mentors used to read this to me: A writer without a sense of responsibility is no better than the leader who goes on with his work without regard for the welfare of those he leads.

I have failed to remember the writer from whom those wonderful words came, but they are words that are not easy to forget.

The Lazy Man's Guide to Online Business

Back about 1970 there was a popular song by Bobby Sherman on the radio that included the lyric, "I gotta be more than just to lines in the Oklahoma City Times." While the tune is catchy and the words poke fun of the obituary section of a great newspaper, it carries a serious message to those us interested in genealogy.

Anyone who studies family history knows how difficult it is to visualize the lives of our parents when they were young, our grandparents before they moved west in a covered wagon, or great grandparents that we never knew. Beyond two generations we can usually only pick up hints of what their lives were like through birth certificates, marriage licenses, obituaries, and other tracks that they left while alive.

These are wonderful bits of information that fill in dates, locations, and some of the cold facts of their lives but tell very little about what made them human. What were they passionate about? Were they funny? What makes them special? Did they love small children and dogs? Did they make a difference in other people's lives?

The answer to these and other questions is usually within our grasp. Here are some good places to start. While you may not remember your grandparents, older members of your family might remember and their memories are yours for the asking. If you don't have anyone older in your immediate family, expand your thinking to include cousins, aunts and uncles, second cousins until you find someone at least a few years older than you. Arrange to meet with them in person or by telephone to talk about your family.

It helps to prepare for the discussion with a few props and discussion ideas.

are some good discussion guides online that will help you get started with the most basic information like names, dates, locations, and relationships. You should also ask more open-ended questions like, "What do you remember about [grandma] when she was young? What was her personality like? Is their a particular event or occasion that stands out in your mind that demonstrates her personality? What are the things that she loved to do? What do you remember about daily life at [grandma's] house? What do you remember about going there? Were there any things that she did as a tradition during the holidays or at special times of the year?

It also helps to take along any photos or documents that you have to help guide the conversation and stimulate the memories. Who is this person in the picture? What do you remember about them?

Include your children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews in the conversation. Older people love to tell stories to children.

Florida Retirement Communities, Homes, Villages, and Condos

My wife once gave an assignment to her fourth-grade class to interview people at the retirement home about their lives. They came up with some amazing stories that were written down and presented to the person's relatives as a keepsake.

You should also check for any media items that might help you understand. Do you have any photographs, movies, or recordings of [grandma] that might help me get to know her better? Is it okay if I copy these?

Most people have a few events that stand out in their minds and you should let the conversation go where they want it to go. Record the conversation and take notes just in case the recorder doesn't work. Take some pictures yourself just to document the occasion.

Finally, get a good software program that tracks not only cold facts but allows you to organize and show off your media - recordings, photos, movies. Share your information with family members and the world by posting it on a web site where relatives will find you and give you even more information.

Your family can be more than just two lines in the Oklahoma City Times. Through your effort their lives can continue to make a positive difference in the world.

Vanilla forex options for major currencies have good liquidity and you can easily enter the market long or short, or exit the market any time day or night.

Vanilla forex option contracts can be used in combination with each other and/or with spot forex contracts to form a basic strategy such as writing a covered call, or much more complex forex trading strategies such as butterflies, strangles, ratio spreads, synthetics, etc. Also, plain vanilla options are often the basis of forex option trading strategies known as exotic options.

Exotic Forex Options Broker - First, it is important to note that there a couple of different forex definitions for "exotic" and we don't want anyone getting confused. The first definition of a forex "exotic" refers to any individual currency that is less broadly traded than the major currencies. The second forex definition for "exotic" is the one we refer to on this website - a forex option contract (trading strategy) that is a derivative of a standard vanilla forex option contract.

To understand what makes an exotic forex option "exotic," you must first understand what makes a forex option "non-vanilla." Plain vanilla forex options have a definitive expiration structure, payout structure and payout amount. It is important to note that exotic options, since they are often tailored to a specific's investor's needs by an exotic forex options broker, are generally not very liquid, if at all.

Since exotic forex options contracts are usually specifically tailored to an individual investor, most of the exotic options business in transacted over the telephone through forex option brokers. There are, however, a handful of forex option brokers who offer "if touched" forex options or "single payment" forex options contracts online whereby an investor can specify an amount he or she is willing to risk in exchange for a specified payout amount if the underlying price reaches a certain strike price (price level). These transactions offered by legitimate online forex brokers can be considered a type of "exotic" option. However, we have noticed that the premiums charged for these types of contracts can be higher than plain vanilla option contracts with similar strike prices and you can not sell out of the option position once you have purchased this type of option - you can only attempt to offset the position with a separate risk management strategy. As a trade-off for getting to choose the dollar amount you want to risk and the payout you wish to receive, you pay a premium and sacrifice liquidity. We would encourage investors to compare premiums before investing in these kinds of options and also make sure the brokerage firm is reputable.

Again, it is fairly easy and liquid to enter into an exotic forex option contract but it is important to note that depending on the type of exotic option contract, there may be little to no liquidity at all if you wanted to exit the position.

Firms Offering Forex Option "Betting" - A number of new firms have popped up over the last year offering forex "betting." Though some may be legitimate, a number of these firms are either off-shore entities or located in some other remote location. We generally do not consider these to be forex brokerage firms. Many do not appear to be regulated by any government agency and we strongly suggest investors perform due diligence before investing with any forex betting firms. Invest at your own risk with these firms.

In all, the "website will offer free access to over 2,750 poems and short stories from past and current issues."

The more than 2000 (!) authors ever published in Ploughshares will each maintain a personal web page comprising biographical notes, press releases, new books and events announcements and links to other web sites. This is the Yahoo! formula. Content generated by the authors will thus transform Ploughshares into a leading literary portal.

But Ploughshares did not stop at this standard features. A "bookshelf" will link to book reviews contributed online (and augmented by the magazine's own prestigious offerings). An annotated bookstore is just a step away (though Ploughshares' web site does not include one hitherto).

The next best thing is a rights-management application used by the journal's authors to grant online publishing permissions for their work to third parties.

This creates dependence. Links may get broken. Whole web sites vanish. Magazines and their publishers go under. All the more reason for publishers to adopt this service and make it their own.

Consider the past, when, where there was a problem, we all met it head on and it was overcome.

The Lord says consider it.

Consider the Present. The European Union is getting Stronger.

Consider the Present. Iraq signs military pact with Iran.

Consider the Present. Russia signs accord with China and India.

Consider the Present. US voices fears over Chinese military build-up.

Consider the Present. Prayer, The Ten Commandments, unlawful in Schools and Government Buildings.

Consider the Present. Gay Marriage, Gay priest, Women Deacons.

Consider the Present. Uzbekistan Christians Detained and Tortured for Their Faith.

Consider the Present. Council members in a South Carolina town can no longer mention the name of Jesus Christ or another specific deity in their prayers during meetings.

Consider the Present. A massive, international "gay pride" event previously held in Rome, at the doorstep of the Vatican, has chosen Jerusalem as its next venue.

Consider the Present. More than a third of Church of Scotland ministers do not believe in the virgin birth of Christ.

The Lord says consider it.

The Lord says consider this; Hag 2:11-18, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying, If one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy? And the priests answered and said, No. Then said Haggai, If one that is unclean by a dead body touch any of these, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean.

Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean. Very strong words from Haggai.

A nation cannot be clean, before God, if it handles the unclean thing.

Abomination of Desolation.

When are we going to realize that the unclean thing is anything that is an abomination to God? "So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean." God will not be part of uncleanly-ness or unrighteousness. A nation of reprobate people cannot stand before God and then desire that their prayers be answered.

Look at the things that God asked us to consider.

1. Prayer, The Ten Commandments, unlawful in Schools and Government Buildings.

Haven't you been chastised by God enough, what will it take? And these are just a few. Doesn't this appear to be a double minded man ? [Speaking as a Nation]

Jam 1:6-8 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you; Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.

And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD: Since those days were, when one came to an heap of twenty measures, there were but ten: when one came to the pressfat for to draw out fifty vessels out of the press, there were but twenty. I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the LORD.

Cannot the people see the chastisement of God upon them, cannot they see that God is willing to bless, but He will not bless the unclean thing.

Consider now, how one woman took prayer from school, consider now, that one group is introducing gay books to children, consider now, how a hand full of people can change the life of Gods children by introducing acceptance training for gays and lesbians.

Compromise, compromise, the down fall of humanity and righteousness in our land of plenty. This land we call home will become as Sodom and Gomorrha, a land of want and famine.

Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the LORD'S temple was laid, consider it. "So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean."

Hollow Industrial Base

During the last decade, a hot topic in Japan and America has been the "hollowing out" of their industrial bases. The share of Japanese-owned productive capacity located abroad has grown from 8% in 1994 to 40% today. The United States currently has just over 50% of its manufacturing base located offshore. For both Japan and America, the large outflows of direct investment, especially to China, have caused an uneasy feeling that both countries had bleak futures as manufacturing centers.

Surprisingly, in Japan the pendulum is now moving back as large Japanese multinationals are busy investing in manufacturing plants at home. Here are just a few examples of this trend. Canon is building a large digital camera facility and plans to spend 80% of its $7.2 billion capital budget in Japan over the next three years. This is a reversal from the past ten years when 80% of its capital budget was spent overseas.

Toshiba is building a $2 billion semiconductor facility. Sharp, Matsushita and Nippon Steel are also building major plants in Japan. Overall, spending on plants and equipment in Japan is rising at a 10% clip.

It's not that China is not important to Japan's economic growth. China has passed America to become Japan's largest export market. In addition, it needs a strong presence in China to tap its rapidly growing consumer market as well as a low cost base to manufacture lower tech products. For certain products like cars it is also likely to keep large manufacturing bases in countries like America. For example, Toyota produces more than 1 million cars annually at eight manufacturing plants in America and has two plants under construction in Texas and Tennessee.

But for the more advanced capital-intensive products, the investment is clearly coming home. How can we account for this surprising turnaround and what are the lessons for America?

Lose Now, Lose Big Later

First, Japanese firms have learned the drawbacks of outsourcing. Supply bottlenecks, poor infrastructure, power shortages, uneven quality, difficult inventory management and high employee turnover are just some of the problems. Secondly, even though China's wages are about 5% of Japan's, its increasingly sophisticated factory automation has lessened the importance of labor costs. For advanced high tech products it accounts for only 10-15% of total costs. Having manufacturing closer to home also shortens new product lead times and increases cooperation between R&D and production teams leading to a crucial edge in staying ahead of its nimble competitors. Supply lines of 2,000 miles can be problematic.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, there is the critical issue of protecting intellectual capital. Having research, development and production closer to headquarters better protects proprietary technologies. Unfortunately, here in America the outsourcing trend does not appear to be reversing even in capital-intensive products. Many of the new high tech jobs are for managers to manage the outsourcing process. Microsoft, Intel, IBM and Motorola all have large and growing R&D centers in China to take advantage of Beijing's cheaper pool of talent. Given China's disregard for intellectual property rights, perhaps American executives should pause and reconsider the long-term costs of growing outsourcing programs.

Their offshore R&D staff may very well walk off with proprietary knowledge and the company's future. Many Americans believe the loss of manufacturing jobs is just about lower wage rates in other countries but this is not always the case. One example is Whirlpool which makes its high-end front loading washing machines in Germany ($32/hour labor) and ships them to US ($23/hour labor). The reason given by Whirlpool: trained German workforce, available capacity, and necessary technology.

Whirlpool could have produced these washing machines at their Ohio plant and saved the $50 per unit shipping costs while creating high wage American jobs.

Leverage Our Strengths

Then there is America's growing annual trade deficit that exceeds $600 billion a year with $200 billion attributable to our trade gap with China. You have to admit that it is harder to make a strong case against Chinese trading practices when 40% or more of American imports from China come from American multinationals with China-based manufacturing plants. Why not sell more of the stuff we make in China to China's 1.3 billion consumers?

The Art of Leverage by Michael Ross

If these markets are not open to American companies, let's use the leverage of access to America's vast consumer market to bust them open.

There are some economists and policymakers who claim a strong manufacturing base is not important. I beg to disagree. History shows that manufacturing is the foundation of all wealth and that research and development follows manufacturing rather than the other way around. There are now more American workers in state and local government then in the manufacturing sector, and manufacturing as a percentage of GDP has fallen from 20% in 1980 to less than 10% today. This is not a call for isolationism or rolling back globalization, just a reminder that outsourcing has its downside. How about a little common sense and balancing short-term cost savings against long-term strategic risks?

Stop Accepting the Risk for Short Term Benefits

Instead of just taking the comparatively easy step of lowering labor costs by outsourcing, let's roll up our sleeves like the Japanese, improve manufacturing techniques and reap the benefits of keeping more production and technology closer to home.

Big Fat Lie 1: Your personality is formed and unchangeable by age 5 or 6

Somehow we have accepted the idea that we are complete by age 5 or 6 because some "learned psychologist" said so.

Recent research reveals, however, that our neocortex, the front part of our brain that is responsible for reasoning and decision-making, is still developing well into late adolescence.

I can hear the parents of teens saying "Well, duh!"

If you pause to think about this notion, it really makes little sense, for at least two reasons:

1) It implies that people cannot change, and my 25 years of working with people makes me conclude just the opposite it true.

Although just about every phase of my work life involves talking with people, I am basically a shy person. In high school and college there was a guy in our church who was very friendly to everyone, and just about everywhere we went, he knew someone. Because I admired this, I watched and modeled some of his behavior because my shyness was something I very much wanted to change.

2) If you are 40 years old and everything was formed and complete by age 5, then this implies that you have wasted the last 35 years. I doubt that to be true

Big Fat Lie 2: Time heals all wounds.

We have all heard this one many times. Sounds good, doesn't it?

The problem is that time does not heal all wounds.

The reality is this: all time does is pass.

It's what we do while time is passing that makes the difference.

I've worked with people that have had huge tragedies in their lives, and because of the way they handled it, were doing fairly well relatively soon.

I've also worked with people who have had misfortune in their lives who talk about it as if it were last week when, in fact, it occurred 15 years ago.

They have kept it alive and recent for them.

It's what we do while time passes that makes the difference.

Big Fat Lie 3: The first cut is the deepest

From Rod Stewart to Sheryl Crow, "the first cut is the deepest" has become an accepted myth about relationships.

The first breakup is supposed to be the worst and most difficult. "Isn't this supposed to hurt more?"

Teach YOUR Cat to Use a Litter Box - Secrets to Litter Tray Success

Even the most dedicated cat lover has little patience with a cat that doesn't use its litter box. Yet, patience is the key to creating litter box success. A positive introduction when young, and simple housekeeping on your part will solve most problems.

Most cats instinctively use the litter box. However if you see your kitten crouching or sniffing in a corner lift her and place her in a litter tray - this is a sign of oncoming urination. If your kitten is not using the litter box you should place her in the box every morning.

It is important for your cat to be able to easily access the litter box. If you have a large home, put litter boxes in more than one place. If your house has many levels, make sure each floor is equipped with a litter box. As in real estate, location is crucial to your cat successfully using the litter box.

Clean Drive - Privacy & Performance

The best spot offers your cat a certain amount of privacy, but not so out of the way that you forget to clean it. Some people put the litter box in a seldom-used closet. Be sure, however, to use a hard-rubber stop to keep the door, or install a pet door so your cat can go in and out whenever she wants.

If you need to move a litter tray you should move it by only a few feet at a time. If the cat stops using it you have probably moved it too far.

If your cat doesn't use her litter box study the situation carefully for the reason(s) why.

Some cats will avoid a "dirty" litter box. Scoop out feces and wet litter daily. Completely empty and replace the litter at least once a week. Don't be too generous with the litter; most cats prefer a shallow layer of about two inches.

If you have more than one cat, you need more than one litter box. Cats are very particular and won't eliminate in a "used" litter box. The general rule of thumb is to have one litter box per cat.

Location, location, location; sudden noises, or lack of privacy can scare a cat from using a litter box. Try moving it to a different spot.

Never punish your cat for having an accident. She won't make the connection unless you catch her in the act. Even then, punishment only creates fear of you, not a desire to change behavior. Use an enzyme-based cleaner to remove the smell of the accident. This will help prevent future soiling in that spot as the smell of urine will make the cat think its OK to go there.

If you notice that accidents happen in the same place over and over, try putting a litter box there. Perhaps your cat prefers this spot for reasons you'll never understand. If accidents tend to happen when your cat has free run of the house or while you are away, keep her confined to one room until you can watch her. Be sure to provide food, water, and that all-important litter box in whatever room you place her in. If your cat uses the litter box successfully for several years, then begins to have accidents, have your veterinarian examine her for a possible urinary tract or kidney infection.

When we found out we were having twins, our teenage daughter volunteered to move into a smaller bedroom so that the twins could have the bigger one. It was definitely time to come up with a new bedroom theme! We also didn't have much space to work with or a lot of money to spend. So when we moved her into the smaller bedroom, she decided to decorate with a black and white theme.

The walls were already white, so that part was easy. Having the walls white also makes the room look as large as possible.

As a school project, our daughter repainted an old cabinet that was mine when I was growing up. She sanded it, painted it white, and then decoupaged onto the cabinet black and white photos (mostly scenery she liked) from magazines and photos that she had printed from the Internet. She then printed some of her favorite Bible verses in different sizes and in different fonts and decoupaged them on the cabinet. We found some black knobs to match. She was happy with how it turned out, and she got a good grade on the project!

She found some black and white posters for the walls that she liked. Because of the limited space we decided to put up shelves on the walls to replace her bookcase. My husband spray painted the metal runners that the shelves hang on black, and the shelves are white. It looks really nice and frees up a lot of room. We also found an inexpensive black TV stand at Walmart to put her stereo on since she had to give up the dresser it had been on before.

We had an old bulletin board that needed a facelift. We taped around the inside of the board and then spray painted the frame of the board black. We then used a paintbrush to paint the cork white.

My daughter likes candles, so she accented her room with white candles and black candle holders.

So that's how, on a very small budget, we decorated our teenage daughter's bedroom in black and white, and we were all very happy with the result!

Moksha being the ultimate truth of life... none can just do without! In the present life we may or may not pursue Moksha as the ultimate goal of all life... inherently and spiritually our Soul (Atman) is bound to pursue this one and only goal in the life of every Soul (Atman) in the Cosmos.

If gaining liberation from the cycle of birth and death (i.e. achieving the stage of Moksha) is the only goal of every Soul (our Atman within)... and knowing the fact that our body is but clothing for our Soul (Atman)... our Soul (Atman)... plays the governing role! Whatever be our present goal in life... the ultimate goal of our cosmic life remains the same, gaining Moksha! (Salvation).

Attaining the state of Moksha (Salvation) is reaching the Mount Everest of physical manifested life. There is nothing beyond Moksha that is required to be achieved in this life. Moksha is that stage in the life of a human being when one cuts across all the shackles of the senses and the mind. Unless we gain absolute control over the five senses and the mind... we cannot achieve Moksha in this life.

Gaining absolute control over the senses and the mind is a complex process. One has to diligently take control of all the senses one by one and the moment we are able to establish absolute control over all the five senses... controlling mind is easy to achieve! Our five senses help us live the physical manifested form of us. They have got nothing to do with our true inner self... our Soul (atman within us)

What is the correct process that we can gain absolute control over the five senses and ultimately the mind for us to achieve the stage of Moksha? For cutting across the various barriers of senses... we need to maintain more and more purity in our day-to-day dealings. The more pure our thought process... the sooner shall we be able to gain control over the senses.

As practiced in Jainism... it is the concept of Bhava Karma which plays the governing role. Before committing any physical action... we must have thought over it. If we are awarded -10 points for committing a grave sin like murder then we also get negative marking for negative thoughts incurred by us before committing the murder. Does this mean that committing a sin only in thoughts attracts negative marking... yes! Even by thinking wrong of others... we are incurring a sin and this result in our getting established on a lower pedestal on the spiritual plane.

For attaining Moksha... if we need to establish control over the five senses then it becomes mandatory for us to follow the concept of Bhava Karma and desist from even thinking wrong of others. This is the only process for maintaining absolute purity of thought. The concept of Bhava Karma in Jainism has no parallel in the History of Mankind. It is only traveling on the path of Bhava Karma that Saints and Sages were able to control anger and purify their thinking patterns.

As we gain more and more purity of thoughts on the path of attaining the stage of Moksha... we shall find that gaining absolute control over mind is within our reach. Gaining control over the five senses is the most difficult part in the life of a human being on the path to attaining Moksha. But it is a goal not unachievable! Patience and persistence both play a vital role in establishing firm control over the five senses. We have to practice Patience and Persistence at each and every stage lest we may not be able to gain Moksha in this life.

Establishing control over anger is only possible after we have developed a habit of forgiving one and all... whatever be the cause or the reasoning! Forgiving one is a one-sided affair. Compassion is required to be practiced at every stage of the physical manifested life. Without Compassion and the Power of Forgiveness... none can reach any worthwhile stage on the path of Spirituality. Every true Saint or a Sage has developed the power of Forgiveness to its extreme for it is only after controlling anger that one can reach the stage of Moksha in this life.

Broadly speaking... to attain the stage of Moksha... we need to gain Kaivalya Jnana (Omniscience) and this is possible only after establishing absolute control over the Senses and the Mind. The moment one gains control over the Senses and the Mind... one reaches the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi... the stage when one can indulge in one-to-one dialogue with God the Almighty.

Maintaining absolute purity of thought by practicing the path of Bhava Karma... practicing Compassion (by which one develops control over anger) Patience and Persistence ... we are able to reach nearer our cosmic goal of life... attaining Moksha! There is nothing nobler in life than reaching the stage of Moksha in the present life.

Dream Interview With GOD

You've just received a call to interview with your dream company. Do you know how to prepare for the interview so that you'll feel confident, have a good experience and set yourself apart from others? Try following the steps below and you'll not only be well prepared, you'll present yourself as a true professional.

1. Research the company.

Do your homework, e.g. go to the company's website and read about the employers vision, strategy, competitive advantages, products, finances, departments, etc. If the company doesn't have a web presence look them up at the library, call the Better Business Bureau or Chamber of Commerce, find out who they are, what products they sell, and something about their competitors.

2. Prepare your elevator speech.

This is your two-minute opportunity to enlighten the interviewer about your chief accomplishments. Please note, this is not the same as your responsibilities. Employers want to know what you did, not what you were charged with doing.

3. Prepare your talking points.

Craft a list of your 4 greatest strengths and the 4 things you're currently working on for professional growth. Be prepared to give examples of each.

4. Identify innovations / process improvements you made in your most recent employment.

Employers want to know how hiring you will make their organization better and contribute to the execution of their strategy. (Assuming you did your homework in step # 1 you can offer examples of innovations or revenue saving ideas that will be of interest to the potential employer.)

5. Dress for success.

The way you dress makes a statement about yourself. Regardless of the job that you're applying for, it's a good idea to wear a freshly laundered suit...even in a casual business environment.

6. Arrive 15 minutes early for your appointment.

Besides ensuring you aren't rushed, you can learn a lot by utilizing this strategy. Observe the company's employees as you sit in the lobby. Do they greet one another and say hello to you? Are they smiling and happy or frazzled and frustrated?

7. Engage in a dialogue.

A conversation is a two-way exchange. Be curious and ask lots of questions to get a good understanding of how the company, department, and management operates. Ask about the job responsibilities and company culture, e.g. employee recognition programs, opportunities for personal and professional development, current and future challenges of the position, etc.

8. Tell the truth.

When responding to the employer's questions, tell the truth! If you made a mistake, say it in a positive way, accept responsibility for it, what you learned, and how you have benefited from the experience.

9. Don't talk salary or benefits.

The goal is to get as many options going as possible so don't talk about compensation too early in the game, it can be a knockout factor. Sell the employer on all that you can do for them. If they're interested they'll make an offer and then you can start negotiating both issues.

Remember, you're interviewing the employer just as they are interviewing you.

If you shop wisely, you can get a tremendous leap over what you have come to know as television. The good news is the better stuff coming down the pipe is knocking prices down on the stuff out now.

Plus, consumer surveys SCREAM to the electronics companies that people WANT these new, slim, high resolution Home Theater setups. There are billions of dollars to be made. Those surveys snapped the head of every exec in the biz. They geared up to make more. "Make more" equals "economies of scale" equals "make MORE money," even at lower price points! The first one costs a bazillion dollars: research, tooling up, marketing. Then, with volume, the cost per unit plummets. The guys who want to have very latest get to pay the most. Why be that person?

If you've already purchased a particular technology - Plasma, DLP, LCD, front or rear projector, whatever, ENJOY it. It IS important to realize that wide screen aspect ratio does not equal high-definition TV, though. Some think if the picture is wide, they're there. That might be FAR from there. I hate to say this because I'm a guy and guys hate this - you might want to read the instructions.

Secret #2. And this is really, really big: YOU CAN'T TELL WHAT THE PICTURE LOOKS LIKE FROM WHAT YOU SEE IN THE STORE.

What you are doing now. Research. The hard part is cutting through the opinions of weenies who want to see a feather clearly, blowing in the wind at 50 yards. I'll help you there. Read on.

There are three reasons why Home Theater Ugly Secret #2 is true.

1- The sets aren't adjusted right. They are turned way up to dazzle you. The dazzle will bother you when you get home. Worse, it drives the set to what you'd call distortion. The better picture happens when the picture is turned down in brightness, sharpness, contrast, and whatever else has been goosed. Why do they let this happen? It's like a conspiracy that everyone is in on - except you. Because when they are all lined up, 40 sets in a row, the manufacturers know you might think theirs is different and better. But they ALL do it, so it's a wipe. And if a store is a little bit shady, with some hi-def sets to move at a higher profit margin, well, now, those might have been "optimized" to look better than the others.

Yes, most of the hi-def sets CAN be adjusted correctly for you in your home. MAYBE by you.

Did I mention that Bubba the shopper-doofus was there, just before you browsed in, that he found the remote control and screwed up all the settings anyway?

So, you can't trust what you see in most stores. But wait, there's more.

2- Many of the sets are being fed video poorly. A distribution amp or humungous splitter shares the picture among the displays. That hurts the picture. A store might have 40 sets on one distribution, but the ones they really want to move on a purer source, showing a better picture. You'll never know.

3- What you see may or may not be high definition or even good quality. Just as bad, it might be super fidelity you won't likely ever see again. Because, what you watch at home might not be broadcast or cablecast with a good picture. So, you can see misaligned sets fed bad pictures that bear little resemblance to anything you'd see at home. Ready to drop several THOUSAND on that? Didn't think so. But tens of thousands of people do. Probably WILL this weekend. Eager commissioned salespeople will confide that THIS unit is the superior one. No hidden agenda there, do you think, huh?!

Secret #3. THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH EVERYTHING.

What you should do about it:

Relax. Don't obsess. It's more a matter of things being done different ways by different designers. For example, on this set, the colors are spot on, but the resolution is a little off. On that set over there, the resolution is incredible, but the red... You are still going to love the setup you buy - and remember - you just might have it for 10 years or MORE!

Catch a cheating spouse, husband or wife having an affair. Catch cheating husbands or boyfriends you...

You'll look at it more than you look at your wife, husband or kids. I'm talking face time. Relax. We'll get you through this.

A personal note to THE OBSESSIVES:

If you haven't already left this article, I want you to think about the fact that there are millions of screen dots to go wrong. Not that they will, but the 317th one from the left and 119th from the bottom IS a little shaky, don't you think? Time to take a deep breath. One, two, three. Exhale. Even though there's something wrong with everything, if you embrace that thought and LET IT GO you'll be able to enjoy the - uh - big picture. The state of the Home Theater art - even if it IS yesterday's art, is very very nice.

Basically, you get a shorter, wider picture (more like a movie in a... theater) and the picture is much clearer than the TV you sat too close to as a kid - remember Mom yelling?. And you can have better sound too. It can be all around you, or just in the front. You choose. You can have a box that plays the deep notes - fun things like car crashes, earthquakes, whale farts, cannons. You get to experience them like never before. It's not essential, but it's there if you want it.

A Home Theater is just like going to the movies. Except the screen isn't that big, but you can get a good seat. You don't have to endure advertisements in the &pre-show entertainment' if you don't want to. You can go to the bathroom and touch the door handle on the way out. No paying $5.75 for a bag of stale popcorn. No popcorn bagging zomboid teenagers. No lines. No sticky floors (unless that's the way you live, not that there's anything wrong with that.)

At first glance, this topic may seem a little repetitive, but you will find that although you have done homework before getting a contract and already know a fair amount about your client, you, however, do not know everything that is pertinent to the job. Once you have the project underway you will be adding to your knowledge of the client. In other words, you will be getting to know them more intimately than before. The information you had at the beginning is what the organization allowed you and the public in general to know. Now you are in a position to increase that knowledge and add to the client profile. Company profile information should be kept separately from the project information. It simply means that you are concerned for the success of the project and need to have these issues addressed. Do not let anything pass you by, record it in the profile and deal with it head-on.

Setting meetings as issues arise is the better way to bring forward potential risks of a project; setting regular meetings will often get in the way of progress, so only schedule them when there are a number of issues to discuss. If there is only one and it is not major, then try to wait until you have recorded several. If it is an emergency discovery, then yes, schedule a meeting immediately and get the incident solved.
